About me

I have over 25 years of coaching experience, 21 years at the collegiate level, and I have dedicated my life to developing strong and confident young women, both on and off the court.  I have two great passions; my love for the game of basketball, the other is inspiring young women and motivating them to be all they can be, wherever that may lead.  My love for the game runs in the family. I grew up in the gym watching my father coach the game.  He coached basketball for over 25 years.  And I watched as my older brother, Jon, achieved his dream of playing Division 1 college basketball at Columbia University.  My mom is the person who helped me realize my passion for empowering young women.  She always believed in me, pushed me, and supported my commitment to making a strong impact in the lives of others.

After earning my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Notre Dame, I had a short professional stint in Sweden.  Upon my return from playing overseas, I turned my basketball sneakers in for a whistle and began my coaching career.  After just two seasons coaching at my alma-mater, Santa Barbara High School, I quickly jumped to the collegiate level and began coaching at Auburn University.  I would go on to coach 20 years at the Division 1 level and 1 year at the Division 2 level.  I coached 22 players who went on to play in the WNBA and ABL, 2 of which were drafted in the top 10 of the WNBA, and countless of my players went overseas to play professional basketball.

Recently, I spent the past 5 years coaching at the high school and middle school levels, while realizing that my great passion for player development could best be used at the training level for all ages.  I am dedicated to empowering, inspiring, and motivating young women to reach a sustained level of excellence in sports and in life.  I am intentional and dedicated to mentoring young women in hopes of making a lasting impact on their lives.  I am also very committed to building lifelong relationships with those I train and mentor.

I am originally from Santa Barbara, Calif., and I played collegiately at the University of Notre Dame. I made two NCAA Tournament appearances (1992, 1994) with the Fighting Irish, one WNIT appearance (1991), as well as three Midwestern Collegiate Conference championships. I also won a bronze medal as a participant on the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival Team.

A 4-time High School All-American, I played at Santa Barbara High School. Playing on 2 nationally ranked Top 10 teams.  I became Santa Barbara High School’s all-time leading scorer in 1990 (1,762) and now rank third on that list. I still hold the all-time rebounding record, single season scoring and rebounding, as well as the single game rebounding record. I am one of only two girls basketball players at my high school to have their jersey retired.  I became a member of the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame in 2001 and I was also selected to the Santa Barbara Court of Champions in 2017.

I am happily married to Eric Harnett, owner of Eric Harnett Photography, and I am the proud mother of my wonderful son, Kael (18) who is a senior in high school and loves baseball, music, cars and traveling.  I also have three great step-children; Madison (26) who graduated from UC-Davis and is now working in Washington, D.C., Delaney (23) who recently graduated from Cal-Berkeley, and Kai (19) who is a sophomore at Collin College studying Game Design and Animation.
